in the age of online friendships, I’ve been in touch with Josephine on the internet for over a decade, though we’ve never met in person. not to forget, we are also deliberately kept apart by the distance between us (she lives in LA & me in Berlin.) in all this time, I’ve witnessed through my phone screen, the shimmering, ethereal performances of her bedroom-pop project Kohinoorgasm, where she embraced an enchanting fairy-nymph aesthetic, and the vibrant rough-edged, electro-pop of Pride Month Barbie, the band she co-founded with her best friend, Tyler Holmes. doused in music mostly, Josephine reveals different facets of her artistry in her many sonic ventures. from mystical allure to playful sass, she channels a deep connection to the underground, DIY, and avant-garde culture. her Dublab monthly radio show, People’s Portal, serves as both a creative and a journalistic outlet to spotlight the music that inspires her. bringing the same energy here, Josephine recommends +nine rusty, glitchy and fun tunes for your everyday stereo. they are all absolutely sick. enjoy.
